// The specialty of the house

Vintage gear is what people yearn to get fixed.

Why it mattersYou can't just order a new Sansui 9090DB or a Pioneer SX-6000. These are the pieces people inherit, hunt down at estate sales, and carry across the country. We bring them back to life — capacitor by capacitor, transistor by transistor — on the same bench for over three decades.

Restoration FAQ

How long does a restoration take?

Diagnosis happens within 2–3 days of drop-off. Full restorations depend on the unit and parts sourcing — a straightforward recap can be a week or two, deeper rebuilds on rare vintage gear can run longer. You'll get a clear timeline on the estimate call before we start.

What can you actually fix?

Vintage receivers, integrated amps, preamps, power amps, tube gear, turntables, reel-to-reel and cassette decks, tuners, equalizers, 8-tracks, speakers — plus modern LED/LCD/OLED/plasma TVs, laptops, and phones. Component-level repair down to the board. If you're unsure, call the cell and describe it.

How do estimates work?

Every unit must be dropped off in person. Once it's on the bench we open it up and test in the nature of the reported issue and check for related problems. Within 2–3 days you get a call with a full breakdown — parts, labor, total cost — before any work begins. No surprises.

Video & Audio Repair — vintage electronics
// Our story

Three decades of "don't throw it out yet."

Video & Audio Repair opened its doors in Petaluma in 1991 — back when "flat screen" wasn't a phrase yet. We're an independent maintenance company built around one idea: most broken electronics can be repaired at the component level, for a fraction of what a replacement costs.

Today that means everything from CRT and LCD panels to laptop and touch-screen displays, LED backlit monitors, and the OLED sets people are buying now. We serve private households, retail stores, and commercial accounts across Sonoma and Marin counties.

1991

Opened our first shop on E Washington Street in Petaluma, CA.

2006

Opened a second location on Montgomery Drive in Santa Rosa, CA.

Today

Still independent, still doing component-level repair, still taking weekend drop-offs.

Can't bring it in? We'll come to you.

A service call is exactly what it sounds like: we drive out to your home, diagnose the unit on-site, and fix it right there whenever possible — no hauling a 75-inch TV into the trunk of your car, no lifting a vintage receiver down the stairs.
